Quite a weekend in Naples. Thanks to @magikkartusa for putting it together.
We didn’t make the Final on Sunday due to an incident in Heat 2 after driving from 28 to 16 in 4+ laps. But we had a lot of fun, enjoyed the competition and the atmosphere.
The track was super. British Airways must be the worst one out there? They delivered half our bags 2 days after we arrived (Max’s) and the other half (Dad’s) are yet to be located 5 days later.
Fortunately, we had moved Max’s gear to his carry on as flights were a problem right from the start. Love to do some more racing over there if the opportunity arises. Not recommending Naples for a vacation however. Crowded and hot.
A couple errors by Max this weekend but overall some really good racing.
On Sunday, our @checkeredmotorsports @magikkartusa KA 100 Jr went from 18 to 22 in a chaotic first lap. Then, we drove all the way back to P9 in a very clean, attrition free race. Thanks to Precision Works Racing Engines for powering us.
In OKN Jr we had the field covered, I have to say. A pass for the lead in the PreFinal on Saturday had finished our race as the engine stalled or broke or something.
And then, unbelievably, the same exact thing happened in the Final. Pass completed for P1 after starting P7, and then race over and this power package can’t be restarted.
No hardware this weekend but I sure like what I am seeing.One1 Pole Position and one Heat Win and should have been much more.
Great job Max. We are off to the Italian Championships in Naples, IT on Tuesday for a big 4-day event. On track Thursday.
Go Max! 🏁
