The Race Final on Sunday, presented by MG Tires, capped off an action-packed weekend for Max and his teammates. Beginning his second full season of racing, Weiland started Sunday’s event in 17th position and battled through adversity once again to close out the weekend strong. This time, that adversity came in the form of contact that he received twice during the first three laps. The initial collision cost Max nine positions and moved him to P26 out of 39. But Weiland maintained the same positive and relentless attitude that earned him the Hard Charger designation the day before.
Max never hung his head, even though he’d be hit again on the third lap, and closed the Final Race emphatically. Before receiving contact on Lap 3, Max had snagged a handful of the positions he initially lost. But after being hit a second time, he was forced to reshuffle back to 24th. From there, he turned in a clean and fantastic race in wet conditions. Highlighted by precise passing and attention to detail, Max raced back into the top half of the field by finishing where he started in 17th place. It was an excellent way to close out a weekend where he had fun, got better, and accomplished some goals.
