Max Weiland started the 2025 SKUSA Pro Tour season fast during the opening weekend of racing in Houston, Texas. Weiland competed in KA100 Junior and X30 Junior for Magik Kart USA and Checkered Motorsports. With his family and team cheering him on, he’d charge from 12th to 3rd in the KA100 PreFinal.
Max then advanced from 3rd to 2nd in a red-flag-shortened Final, showing tremendous pace amongst a strong field of international drivers.

After Saturday’s terrific result, Sunday brought even more action. Punted on his final flyer in KA Jr qualifying, Max was forced to start P23 in the PreFinal. He’d respond by passing 12 karts during the 10-lap race to move to 11th.
Gridded P11 for the Final, Weiland’s Magik Kart USA-Checkered Motorsports KA took off like a rocket as the green flag waved. In the Final, Max went 11-12-9-8-7-5-6-5. During lap 17 of 20, Max moved into P4. On Lap 19, he moved up two more positions to finish second.
It would have been interesting to see what he could’ve done in a couple more laps. But a great individual and team effort to open the SKUSA season on the podium in P2.
The X30 Jr category, however, was not our weekend. But Max did start 29 and moved up 14 positions to finish 15 in the Final.
Super impressive driving from Max and it was awesome to see. Thanks so much to the team and everyone for supporting us all weekend long.
